A look at the must-attend sessions shaping this year's event
One month from today, the Bruce, Grey and Huron region will once again become the meeting point for Canada’s clean energy conversation. The Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) has released the full agenda for this year’s Clean Energy Frontier Conference, taking place October 8 and 9, 2026 at the Unifor Family Education Centre in Saugeen Shores.
Built around the theme “It starts here,” the two-day event brings together industry professionals, community leaders, educators and partners for workshops, keynote addresses, an evening awards reception and a full day of conference programming.
The Clean Energy Frontier Conference has been a signature annual event in the region for over a decade. Beginning as the Nuclear Summit in 2016, the event brought the region together to lead on nuclear economic development efforts—and has since evolved into a critical regional and industry event, drawing participants from across the energy sector, all levels of government, academia and the community.
“With one month to go, the excitement is building,” said Jessica Linthorne, NII President & CEO. “This year’s agenda reflects the breadth of what’s happening across our region and our sector—from energy policy and investment readiness to safety, sector transformation and Canada’s role as a clean energy leader.”
Day One opens with a keynote from Dan Riskin, biologist, science journalist, author and television host, on the power of scientific thinking to solve real-world problems, followed by two rounds of workshops covering investment attraction, provincial advocacy, municipal resilience and workforce pathways, featuring speakers such as Arveen Mann, Investor Services Advisor, Americas, Invest Ontario; Joani Gerber, Chief Executive Officer, investStratford; and Bill Walker, VP of Government Relations, BWXT and former Ontario Associate Minister of Energy.
Sponsored by Teeswater Concrete, an evening reception will include presentation of the third-annual Clean Energy Frontier Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to the local economy and clean energy sector.
Day Two brings a full day of sessions on Canada’s economic and policy outlook, the state of nuclear refurbishment and power generation, national energy coordination, sector transformation, large-scale infrastructure execution and safety—and features speakers Robert Lavigne, Executive Vice President, Economic Research at OMERS and Eric Chassard, President & CEO at Bruce Power and more.
“Last year we welcomed more than 150 nuclear industry professionals, elected officials, community leaders, academic and service partners, vendors and entrepreneurs,” added Linthorne. “And we expect to welcome nearly 200 attendees in 2026—so with a month left to go, now is the time for anyone who hasn’t secured their spot to do so.”
