Organization: Nuclear Innovation Institute
Job location: 620 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin, Ontario with occasional regional/provincial travel
Duration: 18-month contract (with possibility of extension)
Hours: Full time, 35 hours a week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, with requirement to work after hours on occasion as required)
Wage: $84,000-$94,500 (with paid vacation and extended health & dental benefit)

Position overview:
The Energy Policy Lead will conduct policy analysis, coordinate research including stakeholder engagement, and lead in the writing of research reports and policy papers. This role involves collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure program success and alignment with organizational goals. The position will contribute to project management, program development, and operational efficiency across various work groups.
Primary job duties:
1. Policy development and analysis:
Lead the development of policy strategies and initiatives to address key issues and advance organizational priorities at the local, provincial, and/or federal levels.
Proactively conduct policy analysis, research, and monitoring of legislative and regulatory developments, identifying opportunities for policy intervention and advocacy.
Develop and disseminate policy briefs, position papers, and other advocacy materials to educate policymakers, stakeholders, and the public on relevant energy issues.

2. Policy communication and public affairs:
Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of policy priorities, engage stakeholders, and mobilize support for advocacy efforts.
Coordinate media outreach, press events, and public relations activities to amplify key messages and promote the organization's policy agenda.
Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to develop content for website, social media newsletters, and other communication channels.
3. Stakeholder engagement and relationship management
Serve as a liaison between internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to facilitate communication, collaboration, and support for program initiatives.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and promote program impact and success.
Exercise a high degree of tact, discretion and political acuity to handle confidential material and provide strategic support to stakeholders
Able to explore tension and build consensus, influence key partners, and facilitate agreement between multiple parties.

4. Organization coordination skills
Assist in planning and coordinating events, workshops, and activities related to relevant program initiatives, ensuring logistical arrangements and participant engagement.
Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, participant registration, and on-site support as needed.
Collaborate with event vendors, suppliers, and volunteers to ensure seamless event execution and positive participant experiences.
5. Monitoring and evaluation
Support program evaluation efforts by collecting and analyzing data, preparing evaluation reports, and identifying opportunities for program improvement.
Monitor program activities, outcomes, and impact indicators to assess effectiveness and make data- driven recommendations for program enhancements.
Assist in conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups to gather participant feedback and assess program satisfaction and outcomes.
Qualifications and education requirements:
Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, law, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 3 years of experience in policy analysis, advocacy, government relations, or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully influencing policy change.
Demonstrated success in managing a team and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Track record of effectively engaging with stakeholders, and key influencers to promote awareness, influence policy, and manage partnerships.
High-profile role requiring smart policy instincts, sound management skills and sophisticated media understanding.
Required competencies
Strong understanding of policy development processes, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and political dynamics at the local, municipal, provincial, and/or federal levels.Â
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, coalition building, and relationship management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex policy issues to diverse audiences.Â
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to conduct policy research, analyze data, and develop evidence-based policy recommendations.Â
Leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects and priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Â
Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiencesÂ
Experience in working with multiple stakeholders, clients, colleagues in a fast-paced business environment. Â
Ability to develop relationships with multiple stakeholders, external vendors and businesses.Â
Proven leadership and ability to make appropriate independent decisions and implement as needed.Â
Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Â
Knowledge of energy policy landscape considered an asset.
