About
With a passion for science communication and environmental stewardship, Stephanie is dedicated to making complex topics accessible and actionable. As Director of Environment at the Nuclear Innovation Institute, she leads initiatives that advance environmental sustainability, clean energy, and human health through innovative projects and partnerships. Key among them is The Climate Project, a digital hub for localized climate change research within the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territory and Bruce, Grey, and Huron Counties.
Stephanie holds a PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics from the University of Toronto and has built a career at the intersection of science, outreach, and impact. Before joining NII, she held roles at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, first as an Outreach Scientist and later as a Senior Scientific Writer/Editor and Grants & Awards Lead. She has always been passionate about equipping people with knowledge, believing that understanding our world is a crucial step toward building a more sustainable future.
When she's not working to connect people with science, you can find her hiking, camping (thus far undefeated by coyotes!), running, lifting weights, or diving into a board game. She also shares her home her partner, Kevin, and their two cats, Theia and Ruby—who remain convinced they are the true directors of the household.
