Report on Bruce C project points to significant economic opportunity from the Clean Energy Frontier region

Independent report outlines multi-billion-dollar GDP boost, job creation and lasting local benefits from new nuclear generation

Earlier today, Bruce Power released interim findings from an upcoming independent report by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, which outlines the significant economic opportunities associated with the proposed Bruce C project.

The project would bring with it approximately 20,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and an annual average of 12,000 full-time equivalent jobs annually across Canada over the lifetime of the proposed facility, including approximately 10,370 annually in Ontario.

The Bruce C project would contribute nearly $200 billion to Canada’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over its lifetime, including $172 billion for Ontario, along with tens of billions in tax revenue across all levels of governments.

If approved, the proposed addition of up to 4,800 megawatts (MW) of new energy production—currently undergoing a federal Impact Assessment—would make Bruce Power the largest nuclear generator in the world, with a capacity of 12,000 MW.

The interim report examines the potential economic impact of the proposed Bruce C project during its design, construction and operation phases. Findings are based on an economic impact assessment, which demonstrates how project spending circulates through the economy, highlighting both the direct effects and the broader benefits from supply chain and procurement activities over its expected 80-year lifespan.

The final Bruce C economic impact assessment report will be released by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in early 2026.
